I came to live in London seven months ago. I am here to work and improve my language. Living here is brilliant. Not only the particular places like theatres, cinemas, museums, pubs or discos are unique, but also the atmosphere is incomparable. Nonetheless, it happens sometimes that I can’t avoid missing my family. Luckily, they were able to visit me last week. The tougher side of this wonderful city is their prices. It is usually more expensive than any city in the world. Then I had to find a hotel in central London for my family as cheap as possible but, at the same time, comfortable enough for them to enjoy their stay rather than suffer it.
I was very surprised to find in London hotel accommodations that fulfilled both conditions. However, it was not so obvious in the beginning. My first move was asking the locals. My English teacher sent me to some different hotels which were too expensive or too far from the area where I live. For Sam, an English friend who has always lived in a London accomodation in his own city was not a very usual subject. Soon I realised asking locals was not a good idea as they normally don’t need to know about this topic.
Then, tired of walking, I searched in the net. I found not only detailed descriptions and photos of different places all over the city but also I found discount hotels in London. All I had to do was write down a couple of addresses and go for the most convenient. I finally decided for Shaftesbury hotel at Piccadilly which impressed my parents. They loved the bedroom, the Indian food, but first of all, the service. I took them to the West End theatres, as they love arts and we spent some beautiful days.
In two weeks, my girlfriend will be here and I have already booked in Radisson SAS Portman. I’m planning to take a holiday by then and become a tourist in the city where I live.
