The Bolivian Amazon is an ecological paradise with over 2.000 species of plants, 46 species of mammals, 350 species of fish, 218 species of birds, 13 species of reptiles, 28 species of amphibians and 175 species of butterflies.
Ruta Verde offers you a river trip and walks in the Amazon jungle which will take you to the heart of Bolivia 's greatest wilderness area. In the beautiful and dynamic Amazon nature you can witness a great variety of animals. It will not be difficult to see crocodiles, capybaras (biggest rodent on earth), turtles and many birds like macaws, toucans and hummingbirds. And although they can be shy, you will probably see pink river dolphins. Anacondas and piranhas also inhabit this area. You can even fish your own delicious piranha meal and afterwards take a refreshing dive in the river.
Part of the trip Ruta Verde offers you are jungle walks, which lead to native Amazon communities where people still live in their traditional ways.

REFERENCE PROGRAM
Come and experience the magnificence of the Amazon jungle!
START: Departure from Santa Cruz to Trinidad by comfortable night bus/airplane. In Trinidad our guide will pick you up from the bus terminal/airport.
DAY 1
Departure to ¨Puerto Almacén¨ ( 8 km from Trinidad city). We will aboard a small ship or a canoe with motor to begin the tour on the Ibare river. There are many birds and animals all the way long in the water and at the riverside. When we reach the small lagoon ¨El Toro¨ (The Bull) we will stop to observe crocodiles (Dry season). Afterwards we will continue traveling until the camp site where we will have our lunch and prepare the tents to stay overnight. We will explore the jungle in the afternoon.
DAY 2
Early in the morning we will have breakfast and continue the navigation straight to the cattle country property ¨Los Yayuses¨. From there we will walk through pampa and jungle (for approx. 1 hour) to the Indian community ¨San Bartolo¨, where we will have the chance to share time with the native ¨moxeños¨ and learn a bit about their way of life and traditions. They are well known for their hospitality. If you wish, you can join the walk to the lagoon (20 min.) where you can fish for piranhas. Lunch with the community of San Bartolo. In the afternoon return to ¨Los Yayuses¨. Walk through the area dinner and overnight.
DAY 3
Breakfast and continuation of our journey on the Ibare River towards ¨El Rinconcito¨ where we will go trekking in the jungle to observe many birds and macaws. There is a chance to have a surprise encounter with a group of monkeys. After lunch we will continue navigating to a little lagoon called ¨Tajibo Liau¨ (Tied Tajibo). We will observe ¨bufeos¨ (river dolphins) swimming around our boat.
DAY 4
Breakfast and return to ¨Puerto Almacén¨. We will arrive around 17:00 when we will be transferred back to Trinidad .
