Lake Titicaca (Titikaka) cruise on a catamaran

Navigating on a first class catamaran on the deep blue water of the Titicaca lake is a fantastic experience for anyone visiting the Sacred Lake of the Incas. The lake Titicaca, is the world´s highest navigable lake (12,500 feet) and it was here, at this lake on the Sun island, according to the legend, that the Sun God ordered his children, Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo, to found the Incan civilization.

This vessel is made of totora that grows in the low waters of the lake. The people of the region use this plant to build their small boats.

DAY 1 - Early morning: you will be picked up from your hotel for a land transfer to Copacabana where you will visit the cathedral and the main square before boarding the Catamaran Cruise Ship sail to Sun Island, the legendary birth place of the Inca Empire. Visit the Inca Garden, steps and fountain then the Inti Wata Cultural Complex including the Ekako Underground Museum, the traditional medicine and the Titikaka Reed Shipbuilders display centers, the Pachamama agricultural Inca terraces, a handicraft center, the Intica lounge and at the Manco Kapac lookout point the largest variety of Andean camelids. Also, the Inti Wata Complex at Sun Island includes a unique sailing experience aboard a huge Titikaka Traditional vessel for a panoramic visit to the Pilkokaina Inca Palace.

DAY 2 - Buffet breakfast on board, the catamaran cruise ship sails across the lake while you enjoy the overwhelming panorama.
Land transfer to La Paz city before noon.
Afternoon: Arrival in La Paz and transfer to your hotel.

- More extensive trekking on the Sun island
or
- A visit to the Sahuiña floating islands:
Transfer to the border of the lake by the highway that leads to Bolivia and Peru border (Kazani), we make a detour by a dirt road, we then walk for about 10 minutes before we get to a port. After a boat ride through the reeds, we get to these fascinating islands made artificially of reeds by the local people using the same technique of the Urus. After the visit we again get on board the boats. Return to Copacabana and land transfer to La Paz city.
